How Can Cyber Threat Prediction Improve Cybersecurity Posture?
Organizations across the world have been continuously targeted by sophisticated, disruptive, damaging, and costly cyber-attacks. To address the aforementioned issue, security efforts have focused on how to prevent, detect, and recover from an attack. However, these efforts are defensive, reactive, and inefficient at stopping the damage as they only deal with the attacks after they occur.

One question regarding local chapters, in Thailand, currently there's no chapter present. In SE Asia, Thailand is moving fast in terms of IoT implementations in various areas like Smart Cities, Smart Agriculture and moving towards Tele Medicine & Smart Industries. How do I start a new chapter in thailand? What are the steps to be taken?

Second. How do I get registered for SCCISP campus for certifications? Kindly guide me in this regards too.

IOT Security and Government action.

The recent legislation by the British Government for a new Cyber Law which requires that all manufacturers of IOT devices comply with the following:
1. All IOT passwords must be unique.
2. Manufacturers Must Be Easily Contactable to enable buyers to report vulnerabilities.
3. Manufacturers Must Inform Customers Of The Device’s “Lifespan” over which it will receive security updates.

The threat posed by IOT devices will only be addressed when the manufacturers perceive the importance of good security.

Whilst this does not address the myriad of security issues within the IOT domain, I believe that it is a start.

Thoughts?

IoT Security Institute Executive Director for Privacy and Data Protection, Nicole Stephensen joins leading Australian privacy and data privacy law experts in recommending the Australian Government's legislation should ensure an appropriate independent agency has oversight of data the COVIDSafe app generates, including ensuring all state and territory agencies maintain a functional separation of the data from other systems.
The group's report recommended the data from the app should be defined to include all associated metadata and that it covers the whole chain of data from a citizen's smartphone to a contact tracer in a state health agency.

COVIDSafe app needs stronger privacy, says expert group
A Sydney-based data privacy and security expert group convened by former lead technology partner at law firm Gilbert + Tobin has called for legislation to cover all federal and state agencies to promote take-up of the app.

Spearheaded by Peter Leonard, a team of leading Australian privacy professionals and academics consider that more is needed to ensure community trust in uptake of the COVIDsafe contact tracing app at this crucial time in pandemic management. They argue that there is a strong public purpose in both deploying a contact tracing app and ensuring meaningful and consistent controls around what happens to personal information of the community.
The team that includes IoTSI Executive Director for Privacy & Data Protection, Nicole Stephensen, has put together a paper for the Australian Government identifying key opportunities to address community privacy protection and matters of ‘shared risk’ impacting the States and Territories who will access COVIDsafe data for contact tracing purposes.
The paper makes pragmatic recommendations to support the Government’s promised final legislation for the contact tracing app and data store.
This paper is presently with the Attorney-General's Department, with the awareness of the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner and the Human Rights Commissioner. A PDF copy is attached here for reference.
IoTSI proudly supports strong public policy in cyber and privacy matters involving IoT and digital technologies.
