Overview of the IoTSI Framework. The Internet of Things Security Institute (IoTSI) has released an IoT Security Framework for Smart Cities and Critical Infrastructure. The IoT Security Institute’s objective is to provide the cyber and privacy principles that can be implemented from base build through to build completion. Includes methodologies, processes and engagement models. This document provides a walkthrough of the IoTSI Framework. The what and how of the IoTSI Framework.
Please Note: The IoTSI Framework does not mandate the standards to be implemented to achieve the desired "Security by Design" outcomes. As a Framework, and not a standard, the intention of the IoTSI Framework is not to dictate the "standards" to be referenced. This would be restrictive and would not take into account specific organisational circumstances and/or requirements, either preferred, established,or mandated (Legal and/or Regulatory).
It is the responsibility of the IoTSI Framework Facilitator to be familiar with the IoTSI Framework, this guide, and any risk framework that is used by the organisation that will be evaluated.
IoTSI Objective
The Internet of Things Security Institute (IoTSI) has released an IoT Security Framework for Smart Cities and Critical Infrastructure. the IoT Security Institute’s objective is to provide the cyber and privacy principles that can be implemented from base build through to build completion. The goal of the IoT security Institute is to establish a comprehensive set of guidelines to help each of the supply chain participants specify, procure, install, integrate, operate and maintain IoT securely in Smart Technology Eco-Systems. This includes smart cities, precincts, buildings and smart manufacturing. These are portals and community information exchanges, sectors of critical infrastructure that require appropriate security controls to meet their future potential. The IoT Security Institute is focused on ensuring that recommendations produced are globally applicable and simple to adopt – fitting within existing processes wherever possible. To achieve this, the IoTSI opens the channels of communication between smart tech industry leaders, engineers, smart city urban planners and naturally the cyber security community to further the discussion on the existing and emerging cyber security and privacy challenges affecting the smart tech environments.
