Networking monitoring and threat detection tools were based on auditd, syslog, dead-disk forensics, and it used to get the full contents of network packets to disk "packet captures". Capturing packets sotes every packet in a network to disk and runs custom pattern matching on each packet to identify an attack.

Cyber threats are increasing day by day. In such a scenario, writing secure code becomes an important requisite part of the secure software development life cycle. Most of the time either the novice or experienced developers tend to write working code due to time constraints or do not have adequate security framework to write secure code.

In 2023 the world faced a polarized geopolitical order, multiple armed conflicts, both scepticism and fervour about the implications of future technologies,  and global economic uncertainty. Amid this complex landscape, the cybersecurity economy  grew exponentially faster than the overall global economy,  and  outpaced growth in the tech sector. However, many organizations and countries experienced that growth in exceptionally different ways. Building on the priorities outlined in last year’s report, the World Economic Forum’s Centre for Cybersecurity remains committed to bridging the gaps between the public and private sectors and between cyber and business leaders.

The fourth industrial revolution happened as an evolution process in terms of technological advances, and it represents the social, economic, and technological changes that affected all developed countries. The fourth and last industrial revolution brought advice and forecast into the system. This new age of revolution is based on the creation of an integrative and collaborative environment, with the intention to add cyber physical systems, and to consider the customer as part of the production process. In this fourth industrial revolution, the analysis and testing of the product is done before it goes to the market, not after, which allows for the opportunity to predict what is going to happen before it happens, improving the management of the investment that is made in the production.

This whitepaper seeks to quantitatively demonstrate the importance of cyber hygiene – deployment of baseline cybersecurity controls and defensive countermeasures – for small businesses.
